Number of truck registrations in Brazil by type 2022

In 2022, heavy trucks accounted for more than half of all new trucks registered in Brazil, with around 65 thousand units registered. Meanwhile, registrations of semi-light trucks in the country added up to over 7.5 thousand units.

Trucks are categorized as follows:
Semi-light: Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) between 3.5 and 6 metric tons.
Light: GVW between 6 and 10 metric tons.
Medium: GVW between 10 and 15 metric tons.
Semi-heavy: Trucks with a GVW of 15 metric tons or more, and a maximum traction capacity of less than/equal to 45 metric tons; and truck tractors with a GVW of 15 metric tons or more, and a Combined Gross Weight (CGW) of less than 40 metric tons.
Heavy: Trucks with a GVW of 15 metric tons or more, and a maximum traction capacity of more than 45 metric tons; and truck tractors with a GVW of 15 metric tons or more, and a CGW of 40 metric tons or more.
