Ranking of cosmetics companies in Denmark 2022, by turnover
Matas, the largest Danish health and beauty retailer, made the highest revenue of companies in the cosmetics, perfume and hairdressing industry in Denmark. As of May 2022, it amounted to approximately 3.8 billion Danish kroner. In the financial years from 2012/13 to 2020/21, the revenue of the personal care retailer increased slightly but remained overall stable. Matas was followed in the ranking by L’Oreal Denmark and Normal A/S, a discount retail chain of personal care and house hold products.
Cosmetic and personal care product market
In general, the market share of cosmetic and personal care products for women has been higher in the past than of the share of products for men in Denmark. In 2020, the market share of women’s skin care products was 42 percent, while it amounted to three percent for men’s skin care products.
Leading skin care brands
When focusing on the skin care market, Biotherm was clearly the leading brand for both men and women. In 2020, the French luxury skin care brand made a revenue of roughly 17.6 million Danish kroner in the segment for men and nearly 65.7 million Danish kroner in the segment for women.
