Caribbean: change in direct contribution of tourism to employment 2019, by country
In 2019, the direct contribution of the travel and tourism sector to employment in the whole Caribbean region increased 0.8 percent in relation to the previous year. Nevertheless, the growth rates among the Caribbean islands registered major differences. For instance, Dominica saw a growth in tourism contribution to employment of over 40 percent. Anguilla and St. Kitts and Nevis also had positive double-digit growths that year. On the contrary, the direct contribution of the travel and tourism sector to the employment in Grenada decreased more than 11 percent. Haiti and Cuba recorded negative growths too.
