Japan: quarterly expenditure by foreign tourists 2023

In the first quarter of 2023, around 1.01 trillion Japanese yen were expended by foreign travelers visiting Japan. Following the reduced travel activities due to the global corona (COVID-19) outbreak, tourism expenditures by international visitors to Japan declined significantly and remained low throughout the pandemic but recovered by the first quarter of 2023.
