The ATC (Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical classification system) main group that generated the highest sales value of prescription pharmaceuticals in Norway in 2021 was the group of antineoplastic and immunomodulating agents. The sales value for this ATC main group was around 10.8 billion Norwegian kroner.

Sales of medicines in 2021 divided into therapeutic groups, according to the ATC system. The table is based on the first level of the ATC system; anatomical main group. The amounts are stated in AIP (pharmacies' purchase price).
From January 2017, the values for medicines included in the hospital offers, as well as H prescriptions, are calculated without discounts. The values in the calculation basis are converted to the maximum AIP (pharmacies' purchase price).
