As of July 2019, there were 170,149 public charging stations for electric vehicles in Europe. This figure included normal charge under or equal to 22 kilowatts as well as fast charge with over 22 kilowatts. Figures grew consecutively between 2010 and 2019, with prominent increases seen in 2011, 2012 and 2016.
Electric mobility in Europe was expected to continue its stellar growth in the future, with charging stations set to become a staple on European roads.

EV market share

As of 2018, battery electric vehicles had a market share of 1.1 percent across the European Union, with plug-in hybrid electric vehicles holding an equal share. This was a one percent increase when compared to figures seen at the beginning of the reporting period in 2011.

Charging stations across Europe

Germany housed 25,431 public charging stations for electric vehicles as of 2018, of which 22,213 were normal charge. France had a similar number of such charging stations, whereas Norway, known to be the country with the greatest share of new electric vehicle registrations, offered 10,711 charging stations.
