PrEP users in Brazil 2019-2022
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a medical approach for preventing the spread of diseases, usually used for HIV prevention among risk groups. While as of December 2019, approximately 13,600 patients were using this preventive method in Brazil, the figure has increased to more than 50,700 by December 2022. In 2021, Brazil had the highest share of HIV cases in Latin America.
