TJX Companies: quarterly comparable sales growth 2016-2021, by business segment
In quarter four of fiscal year 2022, TJX Companies' HomeGoods segment had a 22 percent increase in sales compared to the same quarter a year earlier. Meanwhile, sales of TJX International, composed by Europe and Australia, decreased by two percent compared to Q4 2021.
Due to the temporary closing of all its stores as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Company’s definition of comparable store sales is not applicable for fiscal year 2021 and 2022. Between FYQ1 2021 to FYQ4 2022, the company is temporarily reporting a new sales measure: open-only comp store sales. Open-only comp store sales includes stores initially classified as comp stores at the beginning of Fiscal 2021, and reports the sales increase or decrease of these stores for the days the stores were open in the current period against sales for the same days in the prior year.
