Online sales of Sotheby's worldwide 2019-2023
Online auction sales of Sotheby's declined in 2023 over the previous year. After rising sharply in the first two years of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, peaking at 800 million U.S. dollars in 2021, the auction house's online sales generated around 487 million U.S. dollars in 2023. That year, total sales of Sotheby's amounted to just under eight billion U.S. dollars, the second-highest figure ever reported by the company.
