This report concerns the use of antimicrobials in hospital furnishings to reduce healthcare-associated infections. It presents the problem of healthcare-associated infections and then provides information on how the use of antimicrobials can be a possible solution through such approaches as textured surfaces, coating technology, and metallic compounds, among others.
