A worldwide report on the age structure of population

This report investigates population aging and the global implications. Using international data nine trends were identified, which are presented here: The world's population is aging; Life expectancy is increasing; The number of the oldest old is rising; Some populations are aging while their size declines; Noncommunicable diseases are becoming a growing burden; Family structures are changing; Patterns of work and retirement are shifting; Social insurance systems are evolving; New economic challenges are emerging.
