In 2022, North America accounted for over half of all femtech companies worldwide. Europe followed with just over a quarter of companies, while Asia had around ten percent. Among these companies centered in North America, a fifth were focused on pregnancy and nursing, making it the largest sub-sector in the region. Other prominent sub-sectors in North America were reproductive health and contraception, general healthcare, and menstrual health. With North America having the most companies, the United States has received the largest amount of investment in the femtech industry. The 11.2 billion U.S. dollars of funding into femtech in the U.S. dwarfed the amount invested in any other country worldwide.Awareness of femtech and the future
As of 2021, a significant share of women in the United States reported not knowing what femtech was. While the lack of knowledge may be slightly concerning, femtech is still a fairly young industry and there could be a large gap in the market to fill once potential consumers become informed about the benefits of femtech. The biggest challenge in the femtech industry to future development, according to a survey of industry leaders, is a lack in investments. Other sizable challenges that could hinder development were said to be advertising bans and taboo as well as attracting and retaining talent. Despite this, a large majority predicted sales growth greater than 10 percent in the coming year, while also indicating that staff numbers at femtech companies would increase, sometimes significantly, over the same period.
