Radio in Canada - Statistics & Facts

In 2017 there were 952 radio stations in Canada, out of which 712 were commercial radio stations. Their combined revenues amounted to 1.01 billion Canadian dollars in 2016.

As of 2018, radio reaches around 25.7 million people in Canada. On average, Canadians spend nearly 17 hours a week listening to the radio. Canadians spend the majority of their time listening to News/Talk radio, with an average of 3.5 hours spent on these programs every week. Out of the five measured central markets, the Toronto area claims the highest average radio audience, with more than 5.52 million people listening on a daily basis as of summer 2018.
