The company is the world's and the U.S. second largest processor of chicken, beef and pork. The largest processor is the Brazilian firm JBS S.A. In 2015, the company was one of the most valuable food brands worldwide and the leading food and beverage company in North America, based on sales amounting to about 40 billion U.S. dollars. Tyson Foods annually exports the largest percentage of beef out of the United States. Together with its subsidiaries, it operates many food brands, including Jimmy Dean, Hillshire Farm, Sara Lee, Ball Park, Wright, Aidells, and State Fair.

In 2015, the company was ranked as the fourth leading food manufacturer brand worldwide, by the share of social media mentions. According to a study conducted in April, some three percent of social media mentions were about Tyson Foods. Altogether, the company spent some 238 million U.S. dollars on advertising worldwide.
