Poverty rate in La Réunion, Martinique and metropolitan France 2021, by age group
While, as is the case for the metropolitan territory, the poverty rate of individuals tends to decline as the age of the tax referent increases, this is only true until age 74 in the two overseas regions. After this age, 37 percent of La Réunion residents and 29.3 percent of Martinique residents were below the poverty line in 2021, compared with 11 percent in metropolitan France.
