Gender pay gap in Belgium 2007-2021, by public and private activity
Belgian women who worked in the private sector in 2021 were paid less by the hour than their male colleagues and than women who work in the public sector. The gender pay gap that women face in Belgium did decrease between 2007 and 2021 in the private sector. In 2021, women faced an average pay gap of 8.1 percent in the private sector, whereas women faced an average pay gap of 1.1 percent in the public sector. Indeed, the public sector in Belgium provided much more equal salaries for women than the private one.
