Number of prisoners in Hong Kong 2013-2023
As of December 31, 2023, in total 9,079 people were imprisoned in Hong Kong. The number of prisoners increased significantly compared to the previous year. The prison population rate ranged at around 121 prisoners per 100,000 of national population in 2022, up from 104 in the previous year, but down from 142 in 2010 and 180 in 2000.
