As of 2017, over 106,000 people were employed in the rolling stock industry in the European Union (EU-28). Germany accounted for around 18.6 percent of this total, being the largest employer in the sector. It was followed by France and Spain, which had a workforce of around 13,000 and 11,600, respectively.
