Value of NPLs by European banks 2023, by type

As of June 2023, non-performing loans (NPLs) and advances to small and medium non-financial corporations owned by European banks amounted to almost 106 billion euros. This was the segment with the highest volume of NPLs. In contrast, the value of non-performing mortgages was lower than for any other type of loan considered here. This is significant, especially after taking into account that European banks owned more mortgages than any other type of loan by value.
