Japan: impact of COVID-19 on time spent on housework and childcare by gender 2023

In a survey conducted in Japan in March 2023, around 2.8 percent of male respondents and 4.9 percent of female respondents stated that their time spent on housework and childcare significantly increased compared to before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. About 57.6 percent of men and 51.8 percent of women reported that the time spent on household chores and childcare remained largely unchanged.
