Major challenges in ethical consumption in Japan 2023
The leading challenge to taking up ethical consumption practices in Japan was that consumers were unable to identify products that are considered a contribution to the practices as revealed in a survey conducted in October 2023. Around 22 percent of respondents stated that this was the reason why they have not made an effort to consume ethically, while 15.2 percent of respondents stated in a similar manner that they were unsure about which products or services were truly connected to ethical consumption.
