Brazil: Pix transaction size 2023

A real-time payment transaction with Pix in Brazil averaged roughly 430 Brazilian real, or nearly 83 dollars, in early 2023 - a decrease compared to early 2022. This is according to estimates based on the overall value of Pix transactions - Brazil's main system for instant payments - against the number of Pix transactions within the country. These numbers have only been reported on a monthly basis, as Pix rolled out in November 2020. Much like CoDi in Mexico or UPI in India, Brazil's Pix receives a lot of attention due to its potential to roll out digital payments within a country that has a relatively high share of unbanked population.
