As of 2021, 91.4 percent of households in Canada had access to a broadband service with at least a 50Mbps download speed, 10Mbps upload speed, and unlimited data transfer. This metric fell to 49.3 percent in the North and 43.3 percent in First Nations reserve areas, highlighting Canada's digital divide. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has set a target for 100 percent of households to have access to so called "50/10" broadband by 2031.
