Primary mode of travel to school in England, 2021
In the year 2021, walking was the primary mode of travel to school for children of age 16 and younger, accounting for nearly 45 percent of total school trips made by children. Car or van transportation followed as the second most common means of traveling to school at a rate of nearly 37 percent. Cycling to school, on the other hand, had a very low share of 2.5 percent.
