* For figures from 2017 onwards the source states this: "Please note: The recent data can not be compared to the figures for 2018 due to a change of provider and the resulting change of methods. What is new is the fact that the data for the game app market are derived from the app market specialist App Annie." Therefore, figures prior to 2017 are only limitedly comparable to the following years.

From 2018 there was the following remark: “GfK has adjusted the definition of dedicated games hardware, which means that the market size for 2019 will also be larger than communicated last year".

From 2021, the following comment from the source applies: "The sales of gaming hardware for 2020 do not match the values communicated last year. The reason for this is an adjustment of the definition by GfK".

The values have limited comparability with each other.
