According to monthly surveys conducted during the fiscal year 2022 in Japan, the average frequency of dining out in metropolitan areas amounted to 3.7 times per month among restaurant goers. The figure increased compared to the previous two years, but was still below pre-COVID-19 pandemic values.

Capital area, including parts of Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture, Saitama Prefecture, and Ibaraki Prefecture; within a 90-minute train ride to the central area.

Kansai area: Osaka, and parts of Hyogo Prefecture, Kyoto Prefecture, Nara Prefecture, and Shiga Prefecture; within an 80-minute train ride to the central area.

Tokai area: parts of Aichi Prefecture, Gifu Prefecture, and Mie Prefecture; within a 60-minute train ride to the central area.
