Share of CO₂ savings worldwide in the net zero scenario 2022-2050, by measure
The wide deployment of low-emissions technologies, along with behavioral changes, will be required for global carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions to reach net zero by 2050. Wind and solar PV, together with electrification, are projected to provide almost 50 percent of cumulative global CO₂ emissions reductions from 2022 to 2050, under the net zero emissions scenario (NZE). Meanwhile, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies would account for just under 10 percent.
