Public support for no out-of-pocket medical costs for childbirth in the U.S. in 2023
According to a survey in 2023, the majority of adults in the U.S. strongly or somewhat agree that families should not have to pay out of pocket for medical costs for childbirth. Yet four in ten adults disagree. In the U.S. even women with private health insurance pay on average 2,854 U.S. dollars out of pocket for additional health spending related to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.
