Poll expenditure limit in India 2022, by election type
In 2022, the Election Commission of India hiked the poll expenditure limit for candidates contesting in Lok Sabha elections in large states to 9.5 million Indian rupees. For state assembly elections in large states, the limit was set at four million. The limit was lower for smaller states.
The limit was revised due to the rise in the cost inflation index and the size of the electorate.
