Hyundai Motor Company's sales revenue in FY 2011 to FY 2018
(in billion U.S. dollars)
Hyundai Motor Company - sales revenue 2011-2018
Hyundai reported sales revenue of 87.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2018. Founded in 1967, Hyundai would go on to manufacture the first South Korean car and have the largest automotive factory in the world in terms of units produced. The passenger car segment is the largest contributor to Hyundai's revenue.

Presence in China

Passenger car sales revenue is up 5.6 percent for Hyundai, with China being the largest and most important market for that segment, with sales revenue of 20.3 billion U.S. dollars. Unfortunately for Hyundai, infiltration of the Chinese market is decreasing significantly and operating profit has fallen towards losses over the past six years. Trade tensions between the United States and China have also slowed down automotive sales in China with Hyundai being significantly affected. In fact, since 2012, Hyundai’s market share of Chinese passenger car sales has fallen from 10.5 percent to 2.8 percent. Electric vehicles are becoming the favored technology in China, and Hyundai will be significantly increasing their number of “green” models which will be necessary to compete in the future market.
