Leading advertising campaigns in the United Kingdom (UK) 2019

The WARC effective 100 rankings looks at the performance of advertising campaigns. The index helps agencies measure the effectiveness of their campaigns as compared to their rivals. At the beginning of 2019, the McCann lead campaign for L’Oréal was the most effective advertising campaign with an index score of 58.9 points. In terms of creative agencies, BBH (UK) was the most effective agency at the beginning of 2019.

Advertisers continue to spend

In 2019, advertisers were forecast to spend almost 21 billion British pounds in the United Kingdom. As of 2015, advertising spend on paid search overtook the television industry for the first time, something that had not been previously achieved since 2005. The turn away from traditional spending channels and towards more digital areas has seen social media spend reach 2.4 billion British pounds by 2017.

Digital spending

Digital advertising, also referred to as online, internet or web advertising, allows advertisers to bring promotional content to consumers using online technologies. It includes, among others, advertisements placed on social media platforms and search engine websites, banner ads on desktop as well as mobile websites and promotional messages delivered via email. 2019 has been estimated to see approximately 12.8 billion British pounds in advertising spend in the UK.
