In the fiscal year 2022, the number of passengers carried via commercial-use motor vehicles, such as buses or taxis, amounted to approximately 4.78 billion, up from roughly 4.27 billion passengers in the previous year. Commercial-use motor vehicles generally refer to those carrying passengers against a transportation fee and are mainly part of the public transportation system.
