Supplementary notes

This statistic is based on the largest central banks by total assets in 2022. Figures for 2022 were calculated by Statista using figures published by each central bank. Figures were converted from original currencies to U.S. dollars based on exchange rates on December 31, 2022. Figures prior to 2022 were collected from the Global Monitoring Report on Non-Bank Financial Intermediation. As figures were not available for Russia in the report, it is excluded from the statistic.
